Where we are able to we have provided a link to the venue for you to explore and find out more, before coming to see us there, or you may email us for updates and find out what we are planning! 4-5th April Sunday & Monday Easter – KENILWORTH CASTLE.

Set in a peaceful Warwickshire village, the mighty Kenilworth Castle provides the splendid backdrop for The Reign of Richard III a War of The Roses Federation event chronicling the story of the last English King to fall in battle – ‘Man or monster?’.

19-20th June Saturday & Sunday – OAKHAM CASTLE, RUTLAND.

o   We are delighted to be appearing at this beautiful castle situated in the county town of England’s smallest county, and we will, of course, be presenting a medieval horseshoe to the Moot Hall on behalf of Lord Burgh, our patron.  www.rutland.gov.uk/castle

 

10-11th July Saturday & Sunday – MEDIEVAL MERCHANTS HOUSE AND ABBEY GROUNDS, TEWKESBURY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE.

o   The Retinue will be taking over Master Foottitt’s house on the main street in Tewkesbury, much to his annoyance, as our base for King Edward IV’s Tewkesbury campaign. With the clerks and administration based in the merchants house the Retinue will be camping behind the Abbey allowing visitors to walk through the camp, the house and on to the battle of Tewkesbury itself.  www.johnmooremuseum.org   (TBC)

 

17-18th July Saturday & Sunday – KELMARSH FESTIVAL OF HISTORY – AGINCOURT! Once again the Wars of The Roses Federation will be recreating Harleur AND the famous Battle of Agincourt at English Heritages Festival of History. Although outside our core period we are proud to be part of a re-enactment of a battle that Lord Burgh’s father and Uncle fought at – ‘Once more unto the breach!’

o   7-8th August Saturday & Sunday – GAINSBOROUGH OLD HALL – UNDER SIEGE 1470.  Our friends, The Beaufort Companye will be joining us at our magnificent home to turn the clock back to early 1470 and the culmination of the violent feud between Sir Thomas Burgh and Richard Lord Welles. The attack on the manor house and its aftermath allowed Sir Thomas to rule the County and build the fantastic family home you now see – The Old Hall.   www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/gainsborougholdhall

 

21-22nd August – THE BATTLE OF BOSWORTH, LEICESTERSHIRE.

The Wars of The Roses Federation once again present the recreation of Richard IIIs’ last battle, at the visitors centre, close to the actual battle site. The Retinue will be joining hundreds of other like minded re-enactors to bring 1485 back to bloody life!

28-30th August Saturday - Monday Bank Holiday – AYSCOUGHFEE HALL, SPALDING. One of The Retinue’s favourite sites; another hard dose of law and order will be proposed for any wrong doers who are troubling the citizens of the town!

18-19th OR 25-26th September – Your Event?

 

11th December – GAINSBOROUGH OLD HALL MEDIEVAL CHRISTMAS 1470’S.  Our end of year and season favourite ‘at home’ event. Look out for more special cookery and additions to the kitchen.
